I'm Not Good at These

  • Dec. 2nd, 2009 at 7:50 PM
under the weather
And sometimes I really wish I won't learn to get good. But it happens.
My sister called just a short while to inform me of what had happened... I haven't bothered to get on lj for a while, which I now thoroughly regret. I've been bawling my eyes out.
I miss him.
He will be thought of.
We'll all remember him, I know, and there will surely be many toasts in the t.v. room.
I can't think of what else to say, but I felt the need to say something. I suppose this'll do.

Whyever would we want our comcast triple package to work? No, we of the Rauscher clan (California, not New York) find it much more exciting to go without cable, internet, and home phone service for nearly twenty-four hours. It's oodles and oodles of fun! Especially after fixing the blue screen of death oh-so recently.

Yippee!

Success!

Not only did I toil over a 400 degree oven today while it was 80 something degrees out today... I came back home at ten at night and finished the second batch of snickerdoodles, and finished the first batch of lemon squares. The chocolate chip cookies were done yesterday. Tomorrow, I'll be waking up early to pack for the con, and then do the second batch of lemon squares and then complete it all by making the choco-mint slice and bakes.

Past Cons Are Out To Get Me

  • Sep. 1st, 2009 at 6:05 PM
oooh pretty
So I'd taken a small nap earlier today, and I had a dream basically involving many of the past LARPs I've been in... and, randomly, a semi-invisible panda travelling on the phone wires. I have no idea where it came from. But.... my dream is far too confusing to explain, but the main points that let me know LARPs were in my mind was that I had a baby I had to take care of and things wanted to eat/destroy it (Thanks, Joe), and from a small LARP a while back, I was stuck in a Harry Potter type building. I was, of course, in the gryffindor area. Wooo! Then there was the general hijinks of many plots swirling around me, and I wasn't always sure what was going on in said plots, and... hey! I saw that guy before and wait now he's a key part in my life of save-the-baby? Since when!?

Oh, cons. How I have missed you so.

After the mild chaos of this morning, I've gotten the ingredients, and I've narrowed down my decision on what I'll be bringing to the con. I'm going to bake more simple things, this time around... maybe next con after I'll bring a cake or something. But! Here is the list, assuming I don't set anything on fire.
  • Chocolate Chip Cookies
  • Lemon Squares (x2)
  • Snickerdoodles
  • Chocolate-Mint Slice and Bakes (These are essentially pieces of Andes mint baked between two thin layers of chocolate cookies with a hint of mint in the dough)
I've made the lemon squares and the snickerdoodles before, so I'm pretty confident with those. Chocolate chip cookies aren't difficult to make. The slice and bakes are going to be interesting... keeping my fingers crossed that I don't screw up!

P.S. Emily, if you love me and/or your fellow LARPers, you will help me out with at least some of the process. I promise you don't need to touch the chocolate if you don't want to.

Sad Day

  • Aug. 29th, 2009 at 11:01 AM
oh no, oops
So, at this rate, it seems like I will not be able to bring the lemon bars to the con. The baking book which had the recipe in it has -....

I lied.

Even as I was typing this out, I was trying to figure out where I had put it. I'm cleaning my room (commonly known as the disaster zone in my house), and of course because I was cleaning, I had absolutely no idea where anything was. That, of course, was me assuming that the baking book was in my room. So about when I got to 'recipe', I had a sudden memory of putting said baking book not in my room, where it could get lost, but in the cupboard I have in the kitchen for all my baking supplies. With a cry, I ran upstairs and triumphantly opened the cupboard. Grabbed the book, did a happy dance, then dashed to my mother, announcing that I -did- have it! She asked me if that was what the cry was about. I said yes. She said good, because it was either that or I was having a very odd seisure.

Lemon bars are on, people. Possibly two batches of them.

On a completely random note, I may be in a slightly odd mood today. I didn't fall asleep until 12:30 last night, and then I woke up at 3:15 or so in the morning, and I didn't get to bed again until the sun came up. Funfunfunfunfun.

Hard At Work

  • Aug. 23rd, 2009 at 10:37 AM
oooh pretty
So I've recently become a Sunday receptionist at the church I attend, and work there every other Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. I am here at the moment, actually. It's really quite difficult work. I set up the computer and phone when I first come in, and then I wait for calls. At the moment, I've grown bored of reading my book and so have decided to inform you all on the rigorous task. I even need to accept money, now and then, while people purchase parking passes for the structure nearby. What I find most interesting is that when people call in, they don't ask who the speaking pastor is or what today's sermon is on, no... they call in asking what's for lunch today (Brazilian chicken, brown rice, salad, and, for dessert, a lime glaze white cake, if you're curious). While waiting between passing questions regarding parking and occasional phone calls, I am forced to entertain myself by reading my book.

Tough work, man. Tough work.

How I have ignored you for so long. Oops. BUT! The time has come! The con is nearing, and I am contemplating what I may or may not want to make and bring to it this year. Suggestions are wonderful. Also, I'm looking up recipes for those who are diabetic, so that I can bring something for you guys, too. My goal is to try and have something for everyone, so please speak up! I'd appreciate it a lot. Favored tastes, things I should leave out, specific requests... all of these would be great. Once I get enough input, or once nobody speaks up and I decide on my own, I'll be posting the choices that I'll hopefully be able to bring to the con.

That is all~

I am already beginning to speculate about things I want to bake for the upcoming con. Whichever one that is. Horrible memory. Anyway! I'm putting this up as an open spot where people can request something, if they really want to see it. And if there are any folks who want something sweet, but have dietary restrictions, tell me. I'm sure I can find an alternative dessert to bring along, so everybody can enjoy something. *heart*

Some may have noticed my absense from lj. Others, maybe not. That is okay, however!
I've been busy with the end of my senior year. I just returned my one textbook of this past year, and now consider myself all done with highschool. Joyous day! Now I shall give myself a summer of fun and happiness, before looking for a job. For all interested, I plan on taking a year off in order to:
  • Work
  • Improve baking skills
  • Pick up hobbies
  • Travel (US and -maybe- Europe with friends)
  • Disneyland with the best friend
After this, I shall be attending college. Woo!

So...

You ever have one of those nights where you're up late talking to people, and you're playing solitaire, and after a little while you stop and wonder why the deck has two colors, and why the black jack won't go on the black queen?

Oh... Joyous

We have delicious ice cream here right now, yes we do. Orange sherbet with vanilla ice cream in the center, and then coconut and pineapple ice cream. It has fruit, thus is healthy, right? And milk! Builds strong bones and teeth, which you eat the ice cream with! It's a big cycle.

I can feel myself trembling, a bit. heeheehee.
